Chat 19 – Scarsdale, NY
Some restaurants are new discoveries, and others are longtime favorites you keep coming back to. Chat 19 is definitely the latter for us.
With locations in both Scarsdale and Larchmont, Chat 19 has been one of Ben’s favorites for a LONG time. He especially loves the burgers and says they are consistently good. So on a gorgeous sunny day, we headed to the Scarsdale location for lunch with the kids and Grandpa.
And even though we didn’t order one of Ben’s beloved burgers this time, we had a pretty delicious lunch!
Need to Know
One of the best things about the Scarsdale location is the outdoor dining area. On a beautiful day, this is absolutely where I want to sit.
What really stood out to me, though, was how elevated lunch felt. Sometimes going out for lunch — especially with kids — can feel more like grabbing a quick bite. This didn’t. Between the outdoor setting and the top-notch service, there was something a little fancy and polished about the whole experience. It genuinely felt like we were out dining, even in the middle of the day.
The Story
Ben and I decided to share two things that caught our attention: a lobster roll and the Crispy Tempura Fish Tacos.
It ended up being the perfect amount of food to share, and of course, I couldn’t resist one of the cocktails on the menu.
Lobster Roll
I had been craving a lobster roll, so this was an easy decision.
It was generously sized with a good amount of lobster, and Ben and I shared it with fries on the side. It was actually a really good portion for sharing — I definitely wasn’t sitting there afterward wishing I hadn’t shared and had ordered the whole thing for myself!
Was it the best lobster roll I’ve ever had? No. But it was really good, completely fulfilled my lobster roll craving, and I would absolutely order it again.
Crispy Tempura Fish Tacos
Truffle in coleslaw?! I had never seen that before, which was exactly why we wanted to order them.
The tempura fish was super juicy, everything tasted really fresh, and the truffle flavor in the coleslaw was completely on point. I loved how unique the combination was — and, more importantly, it worked.
The tacos came with potato chips on the side, and these were an easy definite re-order for me.
And to Drink…
The Nutty Professor
As soon as I saw this one on the cocktail menu, I was intrigued — especially when I saw peanut butter tequila in the ingredients!
Think of it as a twist on an espresso martini, but with an extra layer of nuttiness from the peanut butter tequila and a slightly more dessert-like quality. It was rich and different, but importantly, it didn’t cross over into being an actual dessert drink.
That was what I really liked about it. I could still happily drink it with my meal rather than feeling like something I should have saved for afterward.
If you love an espresso martini but want something a little more unique, this was a really fun one. Definitely a re-order for me.
Tastefully Delicious Tip
If the weather is nice, sit outside. The outdoor space at the Scarsdale location really added to the experience and was the perfect setting for our family lunch.
And if you’re a burger person, apparently you need to listen to Ben. We didn’t have one this time, but after years of ordering them, his verdict is that the burgers at Chat 19 are consistently good.
Must Orders
⭐ Crispy Tempura Fish Tacos — the juicy fish + that unique truffle honey coleslaw made these the standout for me.
⭐ The Nutty Professor — especially if you love an espresso martini but want something a little different. The peanut butter tequila is what gives it that extra nuttiness and makes it memorable.
And if you’re craving a lobster roll? I’d happily order that again too.
Final Thoughts
There was just something about this lunch that felt special. We were sitting outside on a beautiful sunny day with the kids and Grandpa, sharing food, enjoying a cocktail, and actually taking the time to enjoy being together.
The top-notch service really added to the experience. Even though it was a daytime meal with the kids, it never felt like we were just grabbing lunch. Chat 19 has a polished, slightly fancy feel that made it feel like we had actually gone out to dine — and I loved that.
Maybe that’s part of why it has remained one of Ben’s favorites for so long. Consistently good food, wonderful service, a beautiful outdoor setting, and the kind of atmosphere that can turn an ordinary family lunch into something that feels a little more special.
